‘February 7’

By Caroline Woodring

UGA Undergraduate Student

"I chose to sing the song February 7 by the Avett Brothers accompanied by acoustic guitar. To me, this song is about how you should always finish what you start no matter how much you want to quit. Resilience, in part, is about continuing on despite wanting to turn back. The lyrics are, “There’s no fortune at the end of the road that has no end. There’s no returning to the spoils once you’ve spoiled the thought of them. There’s no falling back asleep once you’ve wakened from the dream. Now I’m rested and I’m ready, I’m rested and I'm ready to begin.” They perfectly describe the desire to turn around and go back, but in reality you should view every step you take in life as a beginning - there’s nothing to turn back to, so just keep going.
